Sorry for the inactivity as of late. Been busy living, writing, etc. Wanted to let you in on a little secret though. I’ve been wanted to get out of the sterile recording studio setting for a while now, just haven’t had the right mindset or opportunity to do so…until now. A few friends and I will be heading to the Oregon coast mid-January to lay down basic tracks that will serve as the foundation for a new record. Winter has always been the most ideal time for writing, and I wanted to record in a place where the surroundings will undoubtedly seep into the music. Been listening to a lot of honky tonk lately. Lots Lefty Frizzell and Don Williams, Willie Nelson and Charley Pride. I’m hoping these giants of country music will lend their spirt to to us, let it guide this record to an unexpected place. Stay tuned.
So, I am pretty sure I have an ear drum that is blown out. Yesterday morning my sinuses were clogged, which is not unusual. Being a long time smoker in the past, I had become accustomed to this minor inconvenience. After blowing my nose I heard a *pop* in my left ear. I wasn’t concerned initially because it didn’t hurt at all. I could still hear sounds outside of my own head well, but now there is a tiny person in my inner ear wadding up paper whenever I yawn or swallow. WebMD says it is most likely a partial tear of the tympanic membrane, not a serious injury. It should heal within a week or two, as long as it doesn’t get infected. Permanent hearing loss could ensue if there are any complications, so my fingers are tightly crossed.
Thank you to all who came out to support Special Olympics at the Bite of Oregon. We were happy to be there. Here’s a little video of the event featuring a song from our set. Enjoy!
Ok, so this is my last attempt at keeping and maintaining a website/blog. After several years of obsessing over trivial web design elements, extensive hyperlinks, flashy graphics, etc…I’ve come to the realization that all I want in a web presence is something simple that will make it easy (for the two people who visit this site regularly, including me) to find information about my various music projects. That’s all, folks. Enjoy.
